Purnima has a Masters degree in Education, and has been a learning design professional for over twenty years. Beginning her career as a teacher initially, she soon moved into the E-Learning field, and has been instrumental in setting up Instructional Design (ID) systems and processes in many organizations, such as NIIT, Knowledge Platform, and Hurix. While working with these organizations, she also designed technology-integrated learning solutions for Corporate Training, Higher Education and K-12, and executed large-scale ICT-integration projects, such as Smart Schools - Malaysia, ICT-integration in schools – Brunei, and Universitas 21 - global network of research-intensive universities.
As a freelance consultant, she has been associated with a number of renowned organizations that provide technology-integrated learning solutions, such as NIIT Yuva Jyoti (Skill Development for the youth), Genpact (Corporate Training), Tata Interactive Services (K12) and the Noida Deaf Society (Learning design for the hearing impaired).
Papers authored by her on E-Learning and Instructional Design have been published by reputed forums/publications, such as ASTD and ISPI (USA), and Training Journal (UK). She is among the most frequently cited authors by other scholars in the field of Blended Learning as per research conducted by the department of Instructional Psychology and Technology, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, USA.
